SUCCESS STORY 130: A Movements activist's article has gone viral. After appearing on The News Hub, and being widely shared across Facebook, it was picked up The Christian Post, The Christian Daily, Inquisitr.com, and the Dhaka Tribune. It was further published on Tremr. The article "Facebook Facing Heavy Criticism After Removing Major Atheist Pages" by Ayman El Kaissi asserts Facebook is inherently complicit with Arab authorities who silence religious and/or cultural criticism. In mid-April, Facebook removed more than six Arabic-speaking atheist pages due to "violations of community standards." This was not the first of Facebook's censorship of atheists and freethinkers in the region. In response, the Atheist Alliance – Middle-East and North Africa (AA-MENA) launched a campaign to reform Facebook's policies on violation reports in a way that respects freedom of thought and expression.
